A woman on her way to pick up her child from school has been charged with high-range drink driving and speeding in Sydney's north.

Officers allegedly detected the 29-year-old provisional driver travelling at 82km/h in a 50km/h zone near a school zone in Frenchs Forest at about 3.30pm on Thursday.

Police say she returned a positive breath test then a breath analysis reading of 0.158.

She was charged with high range drink driving and issued with infringement notices for excessive speed, not displaying P-plates and not producing a licence to appear at Manly Local Court on December 14.
