The search has resumed for a West Australian couple who have been missing since departing on a camping trip a week ago.

Jeremy Sim, 41, and his wife Marama Sim, 38, were last seen by family members on October 18 at 4am when they left their Esperance home.

The couple were later sighted at the Lake King Tavern Motel about 3pm.

A new search area was established on Tuesday morning, northwest of the area originally searched between Esperance, Lake King, Norseman and Balladonia.

It is unclear exactly where the couple were heading. Police say they were travelling in a 2002 gold-coloured Nissan Patrol, registration number 02ESP, towing a box trailer with a dull metal roof.

Concerns are held for their welfare as they usually keep in touch with family when they go camping, a police statement says.
