A media campaign to catch highly sought after fugitives is having success after the second arrest in Queensland in three days.

Nicholas Byrne, 46, handed himself in at Townsville police station around 3pm on Thursday, say police.

Byrne was charged for offences against a child in 2010 and pled guilty, however he failed to appear for sentencing in Bowen.

It comes after police launched Operation Roam, a campaign on Monday aimed at tracking down Australia's 19 most wanted fugitives, including Byrne.

Luke Broadhead, a convicted drug trafficker wanted for breaching his parole, was arrested in Cairns on Tuesday.
