The president of a newly established Tasmanian chapter of the Bandidos outlaw bikie gang has been charged with riding an unregistered motorcycle without a licence while under the influence of drugs.

The 28-year-old Devonport chapter president was allegedly affected by the drug ice when stopped in June, and a subsequent search of his home found more of the illegal drug, police said on Thursday.

"This move into Tasmania has been of concern to police, and the gang has been closely monitored," police sergeant Damien George said, adding that three associates have been charged with firearm, assault and property offences.
