Senior staffers say sorry to WA parliament

A current WA senior government staffer and a former one have apologised after being found in contempt of parliament over ex-treasurer Troy Buswell's infamous late-night car crash that ended his career.

The privileges and procedures committee found earlier this month that Premier Colin Barnett's deputy chief of staff Stephen Home and Mr Buswell's former chief of staff Rachael Turnseck deliberately provided false and misleading information to parliament. They were told to apologise or face further action.

Mr Buswell crashed his ministerial car into several parked cars while driving home from a Perth wedding in the early hours of a Sunday morning in February 2014 and was later admitted to a psychiatric clinic and resigned.
