The SES have joined police in the search for clues following the murder of a woman in Brisbane's west.

Police found the body after 7am on Friday at a house in Jillinda Place, The Gap where she lived.

The SES are combing nearby properties and parkland backing on to properties in Jillinda Place.

Police Commissioner Ian Stewart suggested on Friday more than one person may be responsible for the murder.

"That will be rigorously and continuously looked at to identify those responsible for the death of a woman at The Gap earlier today," he said.

Police have confirmed the person who called them is assisting with their inquiries and that the woman did not live alone. They did not reveal the nature of her injuries.

"We've identified a number of lines of inquiry," Detective Inspector Joe Zitny said.

Police are urging anyone in the area around Jillinda Place and Kays Road, The Gap, who may have seen anything out of the ordinary to come forward.
