A man is facing a string of charges after shots were fired and a house was burnt down at Nambour in Queensland's southeast.

Two men were arrested at the property on Sunday afternoon, one suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers went to the house just before 5pm after receiving reports that a shot had been fired.

They had arrested one man when a second allegedly fired a gun while they were at the scene, forcing several streets to be shut down.

Shortly afterwards the second man, 47, came out of the house which subsequently was destroyed by fire. He's recovering in hospital from a gunshot wound.

The 47-year-old has since been charged with a range of offences including committing an act intended to cause grievous bodily harm, arson, unlawful possession of a weapon, and contravening a domestic violence order.

He'll face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.

The other man has not been charged.
