Tasmania's unemployment rate dipped slightly in October according to the latest workforce data.

The island state's seasonally adjusted rate fell two per cent to 6.4 per cent, just short of Western Australia which is topping the nation at 6.5 per cent.

"There is still a lot more to do and we are working hard to deliver more job opportunities for the many Tasmanians still looking for work," Hobart-based Liberal senator Eric Abetz said on Thursday.
