AUSTRALIA V PAKISTAN FIRST TEST DAY TWO

Score: Pakistan 8-97 v Australia 429

Man of the moment: Josh Hazlewood. Pakistan would have known only too well of Hazlewood's pink ball prowess. Yet the visitors could do nothing to stop the lanky Australian quick ripping through Pakistan's top order with 3-19 on Friday night.

Key moment: Pakistan's Younis Khan is out for a golden duck. That man Hazlewood missed out on a hat-trick after having Younis caught behind first ball. But he still tore the heart out of Pakistan's innings by promptly removing the visitors' talisman.

Stat of the day: One - amount of Test runs Australian No.6 Nic Maddinson has after first two knocks, opening the door for Shaun Marsh's Boxing Day Test return.

Summary: Pink-ball specialist Hazlewood showed the visitors' attack how it is done as Pakistan's batsmen froze under the Gabba lights. At one stage Hazlewood was on a hat-trick. Shell-shocked Pakistan still trail Australia by 332 runs. Earlier, skipper Steve Smith (130) and two-Test rookie Peter Handscomb (105) impressed but it was a wagging tail that ensured Australia posted a 400-plus first-innings total after resuming on day two at 3-288.

Quote of the day: "He's able to land the ball on a five-cent coin every time. He's one of our strike bowlers, if not the best in the country." - Handscomb dips his hat to Hazlewood.
