Score: Australia 3-365

Man of the moment: David Warner set the SCG alight early but opening partner Matt Renshaw kept the fire burning all day long with a classy 167 - easily the best innings of his fledgling career.

Key moment: After providing an excellent foil for the dashing Warner early in the day, Renshaw showed maturity beyond his years when he overcame a Mohammed Amir bouncer to his grill in the nervous nineties, going on to record his maiden Test century.

Stat of the day: Warner became just the fifth batsman in history to score a Test century before lunch on day one, joining Australian legends Don Bradman and Victor Trumper.

Summary: Warner and Renshaw posted contrasting centuries to thrust Australia into a commanding position at stumps. With the threat of rain on day three, the hosts may look to be even more aggressive with the bat, then the ball, on Wednesday.

Quote of the day: "It's always good to go out there and score runs. It (a century in the opening session) wasn't on my mind until 15 minutes to go and I thought I was a chance. It's up there with the knocks I've had." - David Warner on his historic innings.
