South Australian Health Minister Jack Snelling has hit out at the group building the new Royal Adelaide Hospital saying they're "squealing" over the government's decision to force them to stick to their contract.

The government has refused to take charge of the hospital until a number of defects are fixed, with a dispute over a proposed plan to resolve the outstanding issues returning to court on Thursday.

"There's no one in Australia who wants us into this hospital more than me, but I'm not going to do so at the price of safety," Mr Snelling told ABC radio.
