Soccer's Club World Cup semis decided

Mexico's Club America and Japanese side Kashima Antlers have reached the Club World Cup semi-finals where they will face heavyweights Real Madrid and Atletico Nacional.

Silvio Romero struck twice as the CONCACAF Champions League winners America rallied to a 2-1 quarter-final victory over Asian champions Jeonbuk Motors of South Korea in Suita on Sunday.

Unmarked Kim Bo Kyung gave Joenbuk a 23rd-minute lead into the right corner but Romero reversed matters with a glancing header in the 58th and a deflected shot from the edge of the area in the 74th.

J-League champions Kashima, who had beaten Oceania champions Auckland City in a play-off to reach the quarters, ousted African champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa 2-0.

Endo Yasashi gave the hosts a 63rd-minute lead in Osaka and Mu Kanazaki wrapped up matters with two minutes left.

Kashima now meet the Copa Libertadores champions Atletico Nacional of Colombia on Wednesday in Osaka while European champions Real play Club America the next day in Yokohama.

Atletico Nacional are playing in Japan in the wake of the plane crash of their scheduled Copa Sudamericana finals opponent Chapecoense of Brazil.

Real and Atletico Nacional had byes into the final four of the tournament bringing together the club champions from the six FIFA confederations and a team from the host nation.

The final is December 18 in Yokohama.
