Fifth seed Simona Halep is into the second round after demolishing Kirsten Flipkens 6-0 6-2.

SOCCER - England striker Wayne Rooney will end his international career after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

CRICKET - England has piled up a world record one-day international total of 3-444 against Pakistan after Alex Hales ran riot at Trent Bridge. Hales plundered 171, while Jos Buttler hit the fastest ODI half century by an Englishman off 22 balls on his way to 90 not out. In reply, Pakistan were all out for 275.
