Gold Coast Suns coach Rodney Eade has enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of rugby league superstar Jarryd Hayne to the city.

Cross-code rivals the Titans have secured a high-impact marquee player in Hayne, who is a household name across the country after his successful move from the NRL to the NFL.

The 28-year-old's arrival gives the Titans a name to rival that of Suns' captain Gary Ablett in the battle to win over the Gold Coast's notoriously fickle sporting fans.

Eade says Hayne's presence is a boost for the city as a whole, not just for the rugby league club.

With AFL great Jonathan Brown labelling Suns' forward Tom Lynch as the best player in the game earlier this week, Eade says it's an exciting time for sports fans in the region.

"It's great for Gold Coast as an area," he said.

"You mention Tom Lynch, and Hayne's a great player, so I think the two clubs having great players is great for the area.

"If both teams can be successful and play finals, I think it's going to be terrific for people on the Coast."
