Gold Coast could capture Richmond's first two picks in the AFL draft with young gun Dion Prestia officially declaring he wants to be a Tiger.

Prestia requested a trade last Sunday, confirming he wanted to return to Melbourne after a season of speculation.

The 23-year-old midfielder had been linked to Richmond for months and, on Wednesday, revealed it was his club of choice.

The two clubs will try to agree on a suitable trade.

"Dion has shown he's both a quality player and person," Richmond football manager Dan Richardson said.

"He would be a great addition to our list."

The Tigers might have to part with their first-round draft selection to secure Prestia, who has played 95 games for Gold Coast.

The Suns already boast Richmond's second-round draft pick this year, which was part of the deal that resulted in Chris Yarran heading to Punt Rd in 2015.

Meanwhile, Richmond started their post-season delistings by axing key forward Liam McBean and midfielder Adam Marcon.

McBean managed only five games after being drafted in 2012, while Marcon was upgraded off the club's rookie list this year but played two matches.
