Gold Coast Suns have re-signed towering forward Peter Wright for another two AFL seasons.

Wright's deal - which keeps him at the Suns until the end of 2019 - comes barely 24 hours after Callum Ah Chee also committed for another two years.

Wright, 20, was named the Gold Coast's Most Improved Player and won a Rising Star nomination.

He kicked 27 goals from 17 games this year, including five against arch rivals Brisbane in round 13.

"It was a decision, which in my view, was always going to get done," said Wright, affectionately known as "Two Metre Peter".

"I am really settled up here."

Suns recruiter Scott Clayton said he looked forward to Wright blossoming under new assistant Barry Hall.

The former Sydney flag-winning captain has signed on to work with the club's key position players in 2017.

He will be hands on with forwards Wright and Tom Lynch, defenders Steven May and Rory Thompson and swingman Sam Day.

"We are incredibly excited about the player Peter can become," said Clayton, who described Wright as a "once-in-a-decade player" when drafted in 2015.

"He's got the ability to have a great AFL career.

"And with Barry Hall now working with him and our other key position players we think he has enormous upside."
