NSW Swifts coach Rob Wright admits his side is in for a long rebuild after unveiling a youth-heavy roster for next year's inaugural National Netball League season.

The Swifts have retained just four players from this year's squad and only one Diamonds representative in Paige Hadley after losing some of their biggest stars to the three new cashed-up expansion teams.

Sharni Layton, Caitlin Thwaites (Collingwood), Kim Green, Susan Pettitt (Giants) and Stephanie Wood (Sunshine Coast) are gone while the team's 2016 MVP, Kiwi Laura Langman, isn't in the squad amid reports she will also join the Lightning.

All six were key players for the Swifts as they reached the last two trans-Tasman grand finals.

"I have unshakable belief in what the club is creating for the long-term," Wright stated.

"We're not after a quick fix. This process will take time. But I truly believe these players are the group to lead us forward.

"They're the future of international netball, and the future of this club."

Young trio Abbey McCulloch, Amy Sommerville and Maddy Turner - all named in the recent Netball Australia emerging talent camp - have stuck around for another season.

The Swifts have also signed Trinidad and Tobago shooter Samantha Wallace, the reigning player of the season from the English Superleague, as well as rising English star Helen Housby and former Adelaide Thunderbirds pair Maddy Proud and Sarah Klau.
