Sydney FC have given goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic leave for an indefinite period to deal with personal issues.

Janjetovic, who lost his No.1 A-League spot to Danny Vukovic this season, has been absent from the Sky Blues' bench for the past two matches due to "illness".

The club confirmed on Thursday they have now granted the 29-year-old indefinite leave with immediate effect.

Janjetovic has made 100 appearances since joining Sydney in 2012 and spent last season as first choice between the posts.

Yet despite signing a new two-year contract in March he was relegated to second fiddle once Vukovic arrived from Melbourne Victory in the off-season.

It has prompted speculation Western Sydney may target Janjetovic in the January transfer window as his former goalkeeper coach Zeljko Kalac searches for a reliable shot-stopper.
