A woman and a girl have been taken to hospital in serious conditions after they were hit by a learner driver in Sydney's west.

The pair was hit when the female learner driver mounted the kerb while turning a corner in Jordan Springs, near Penrith, about 6.45pm on Monday.

The car then hit a car parked in a driveway.

The woman, 27, suffered pelvic injuries while the girl, eight, received a cut to the head.

Both were taken to hospital in serious but stable conditions.

The learner driver and her adult male instructor were uninjured.
