Two people have been injured and peak hour traffic has been backed up after a motorbike crash on a busy Sydney arterial road.

The pair were injured after a motorbike smashed into a wall and then into a car at Beecroft, in the city's northwest, at 5.10pm on Monday.

A woman believed to be aged in her 40s has been treated for back pain, with no information available on the other patient, a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.

Police and paramedics are on the scene, with the westbound on-ramp from Pennant Hills Road to the M2 shut down and heavy traffic in the area.
