Two Taiwanese men have faced court charged with attempting to import $20 million worth of crystal meth hidden in household electrical appliances into Australia.

Chun-Hao Kuo, 31, and Chia-Cheng Ku, 27, were arrested in Brisbane after Australian Federal Police intercepted an air freight package containing 20.6kg of methamphetamine.

The package allegedly arrived via Hong Kong on Friday and had an estimated street value of $20.6 million.

The two men were arrested on Tuesday after police carried out a controlled delivery to an address in Sunnybank, south of Brisbane.

Kuo has been charged with attempted possession while Ku is accused of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug.

They appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday but were ordered to reappear on Thursday as there was no Mandarin interpreter available.
