Tas Greens to consider donation rules

The hot topic of political donations will feature at the Tasmanian Greens AGM.

Party leader Cassy O'Connor will move for "real time" disclosure of all donations greater than $1000, labelling current national laws - where sometimes details aren't made public for up to 18 months - as weak.

She wants a system in place similar to that in Queensland and the ACT.

"Within seven to 14 days after a donation is made it's made public and that's an important part of transparency and a healthy, functioning democracy so that when people go to the ballot box they know which corporate or individual interest have donated," Ms O'Connor told ABC Radio.

The weekend conference, starting on Saturday, will be held at the northern centre of Deloraine and party senators Peter Whish-Wilson and Nick McKim are expected to attend.
