An 18-year-old has been charged with grievous bodily harm after he allegedly stabbed another teenager in the stomach during a street brawl in a suburb south of Perth.

The alleged attacker was among a group of people walking down a Halls Head street on Saturday when another group emerged from a house armed with bottles.

A 19-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen and had his face slashed during the fracas, which appears to have been provoked by rocks and stones being thrown at the house, damaging parked cars.

The victim suffered serious injuries and underwent emergency surgery, while police found a large knife in a bin during a search of a Singleton property on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old, who has also been charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear, will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court later on Thursday.
