A teenager doing burnouts has hit two people after losing control of the car on a salt pan in South Australia.

Police say the injured pair were in the car with the 17-year-old driver but got out because of his behaviour before he crashed in Port Gawler at 6pm yesterday.

The young woman and man were airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with the woman sustaining head and chest injuries and the man a broken arm.

The Osborne driver was taken to another hospital with head and minor neck injuries and a passenger who was in the car when it lost control has escaped injury.
