Teenage cyclist critical after Vic hit-run

A teenage cyclist is in a critical condition after he was left for dead on a Melbourne road.

Ben Tyrrell, 18, suffered serious head injuries when he was hit by a Jeep 4WD while cycling near the intersection of Dryburgh Street and Dynon Road in West Melbourne just before 1am on Friday.

The driver of the 4WD, a 25-year-old Footscray man, has since been charged with failing to stop and two other offences over the crash.

He was bailed to appear in court on Tuesday, November 22..

Ben remains in a critical condition in Royal Melbourne Hospital.
