Six teenagers have been charged after the stolen vehicle they were in reversed into a police patrol car before hitting a pole in Adelaide's northwestern suburbs.

The incident began when the stolen car containing four girls and two boys, all aged 16 or 17, was driven out of a petrol station, without anyone paying for fuel early on Monday.

The stolen Mazda was cornered in a no-through road but the driver reversed out backing into the police car before speeding off and crashing into a nearby pole.

The teens have been charged with a range of offences, refused bail and will appear in court later on Monday.
