Four teenagers will face court accused of ransacking a store in Sydney's southwest and assaulting a shop worker after being locked inside.

Police were called to the store in Yagoona just before 7pm on Sunday after a witness who'd seen the group enter the store locked an external door, trapping them inside.

Police said three 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old ransacked the store and assaulted the 51-year-old male shop attendant.

Police forced entry, arrested the teens and charged them with robbery.

They will appear in Bankstown Local Court on Monday.

The shop attendant was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
