Testing begins on all Dreamworld rides

Every ride at Dreamworld will be tested by independent experts and Workplace Health and Safety staff before the park is reopened to the public.

About 200 staff arrived for work at the park on Monday, but its immediate future remains up in the air, with no announcement on a reopening date to be made this week.

Chief executive Craig Davidson has announced each ride will be tested by mechanical engineers and workplace safety experts, before being passed onto the independent safety audit and Queensland's workplace health and safety team.

"The work of the independent engineering experts will be shared with and peer-reviewed by workplace health and safety," he said.

The reviews will be separate to the investigations carried out by Queensland police on the Thunder River Rapids ride, where four people were killed last Tuesday following a malfunction.

Police said on Monday that post mortems on the bodies of the four victims - Kate Goodchild, Luke Dorsett, Roozbeh Araghi and Cindy Low - had been completed, and they had been released to their families.

However, they said it "may take some time" before a comprehensive report for the coroner would be finalised.

Meanwhile, Mr Davidson also denied media claims that suggested another ride at the park, The Cyclone, had operated with just one staff member, when manuals stated it required at least two.

"The configuration of the cyclone ride at Dreamworld is different to the operating manual referred to in the media," he said.

Staff at the park have been given the option of returning to work whenever they believe they are ready to do so, and Mr Davidson said each would be paid throughout the closure.

"It is for those staff who want to come back and help the park and support their colleagues," he said.

"They are working their way through administration tasks and maintenance and upkeep of the park."
