British rockers The Cult have announced a tour of the east coast of Australia.

The band, famous for 1980s goth-rock songs such as She Sells Sanctuary and Fire Woman, will be touring music from their 10th album Hidden City.

Founding members, singer Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, are still in the line-up - the only originals still in the band - and will be joined on the tour by drummer John Tempesta, bassist Grant Fitzpatrick and keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Damon Fox.

Hidden City marks the fifth time the band have worked with legendary producer Bob Rock who returned to work with the band on 2007's Born Into This and then Choice of Weapon in 2012 , with Hidden City rounding out this trilogy.

"Hidden City is a metaphor for our spiritual lives, our intimate interior lives. There is no higher authority than the heart," Astbury said.

The Cult Australian tour dates:

November 23 - Eatons Hill, Brisbane

November 25 - Enmore Theatre, Sydney

November 26 - Festival Hall, Melbourne
