Three charged over Qld bomb scare

Several Townsville streets went into lockdown after explosives were found in a Townsville unit complex on Thursday.

Police were searching the Hermit Park residence of two men, aged 34 and 26, when they found the explosives and detonator.

Southern Patrol Group Inspector Glenn Doyle told The Townsville Bulletin the explosives were hidden in an everyday item.

"I don't think there's any doubt at all that it was meant to be concealed," he said.

The 34-year-old man was charged with unlawful possession of explosives and numerous drug offences and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on September 15.

The 26-year-old man and a women, 27, have also been charged with numerous drug offences and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on September 28.
