Three dead in 8 hours on Qld roads

Three Queenslanders were killed in the space of eight hours in separate road crashes on Thursday.

A 97-year-old man died after the motorised scooter he was driving collided with a station wagon at an intersection north of Brisbane about 12.45pm on Thursday.

He died at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital while the 22-year-old female driver was treated for shock at the scene.

At 6.30pm on Thursday in Everton Park one car allegedly veered into the oncoming traffic and collided with a ute.

The 31-year-old Kallangur male driver was treated at the scene but later died in hospital.

The 34-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the ute was uninjured.

And at about 8.45pm at Seventy Mile, south of Charters Towers, a driver veered off the road and rolled his ute several times.

The 23-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

His 19-year-old male passenger was transported to Charters Towers Hospital with minor injuries.
