He's the talk of the NRL and delivered a match-winning play in just his second match for Gold Coast but the hype surrounding Jarryd Hayne hasn't affected his Titans' teammates.

The Titans regained a top eight spot after last weekend's thrilling one-point victory over Wests Tigers, with superstar recruit Hayne scoring the clinching field goal in a 19-18 victory.

The recruitment of the ex-NFL player on a two-year deal with just five matches to go in the season had the potential to derail a tight-knit Titans outfit.

A media circus quickly descended, with helicopters hovering over their Robina stadium to catch a glimpse of the former Parramatta star's first training run.

As the Titans now head into a clash with bottom-placed Newcastle this weekend which could further cement their chances of a first finals appearance in six years, Henry has praised his team for staying focused and not getting distracted by the Hayne sideshow.

"The team's handling it well," Henry said.

"It's big news. It was always going to be big news, whether he was playing here, playing at Parramatta or playing somewhere else. It's massive that he's involved this season, which we didn't think would happen, it's great for the game.

"We need to feed off the back of that. It's renewed interest. Our fans are happy and rugby league is happy that he's back involved.

"We've got him here and we need to utilise the hype around that."
