Today's Birthday, August 4: Australian professional dancer Kym Johnson (1976-).

Kym Johnson traded the dancefloor for the judging panel after decades of professional ballroom dancing and international appearances.

Kym Johnson was born in Sydney, Australia on August 4, 1976.

She began ballet at the age of three and joined her brother's ballroom dancing class when she was 13.

In 1998, Johnson and her Lithuanian partner placed second in the Open Amateur Modern Ballroom category at the Australian Dancesport Championships.

Following this she was named the Australian Ballroom Champion and twice represented Australia in the World 10 dance championships.

Despite retiring from competitive dancing in 2001, Johnson continued to appear on stage.

In 2005, the professional ballroom dancer won the second Australian series of the television show Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) with travel presenter Tom Williams.

Johnson began dating Williams after calling off her three-year relationship and high-profile engagement with cricketer Shane Watson, however the pair eventually split.

She has twice won the crown across fourteen seasons of the US version of DWTS (2006-2015), pairing up with celebrities including Jerry Springer and David Hasselhoff.

During this time, Johnson also made a brief appearance on the Seven Network's Celebrity Survivor (2006).

In 2009, the talented dancer joined the world tour of theatrical dance spectacular Burn the Floor.

She has also written a children's dancing book and has released fitness DVDs, and in 2013 appeared on the Nine Network's Celebrity Apprentice.

Earlier this year, she was rumoured to be seeing her most recent US DWTS partner Robert Herjavec.

However the dancer and billionaire businessman have denied the romance, despite fans claiming they saw the pair holidaying together in Europe.

Johnson is a judge on this year's Dancing With The Stars Australia airing on the Seven Network.
