The Tamworth community is mourning a married couple after a double shooting in a quiet suburban street.

The daughter of John and Rainee Abberfield, Lisa Abberfield, says her parents will be "insanely missed".

"My parents worked really hard to make sure we had the best lives," she said.

"I loved them," she told the local Fairfax newspaper.

Friend Carolyne Morris took to social media to remember Mrs Abberfield, 51, as an avid music lover.

Loren Ryan said she would miss Mrs Abberfield's beautiful smile and comforting words of wisdom in a Facebook tribute.

"You were an absolute gem. You of all people did not deserve this," she wrote.

"Your appreciation, support and enthusiasm for the Tamworth entertainment community was undeniable," she posted.

"Rest in peace, Rainee Dayz and hubby John Abberfield. We will never understand."

Neighbours say Mr Abberfield, 67, was often seen outside tending to the garden and was friendly to everyone.

Emergency services were called to Bailey Ave, East Tamworth late on Sunday night after concern for the pair's welfare.

The two bodies were found in the house and police are not treating the deaths as suspicious.
