Turnbull, Shorten remember the fallen

The day before parliament sits, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten have postponed hostilities to jointly commemorate the fallen.

Mr Turnbull and Mr Shorten attended the Australian War Memorial's Last Post Ceremony on Monday afternoon, hearing the story of Lance Corporal Robert Bolton-Wood, who was killed by a shell explosion during the attack on Mouquet Farm on August 29, 1916 - precisely a century ago.

He was just 22, the same age as brother Albert, who died of wounds in fighting on the Western Front a year later.
