Two people have been arrested over a fire that gutted the historic Premier Hotel in Albany on Western Australia's south coast.

Police said the blaze was deliberately lit at the 130-year-old hotel about 12.30am on May 13 following the theft of cash from the safe.

Security footage allegedly shows the owner leaving through the back door moments before being "frog marched" by two men disguised by clothing and face coverings, police said.

Two men, aged 29 and 30, were taken into custody on Thursday for questioning.
