Two men have been winched to safety after getting into trouble while swimming at a tourist hotspot in the Royal National Park in Sydney's south.

The pair, aged 28 and 29, were airlifted from the Figure Eight Pools at about 6pm on Sunday following reports of swimmers in danger as the tide rose, police said.

Both men were treated for minor hypothermia with the 29-year-old taken to Sutherland Hospital for additional minor injuries.
