Australia will seek the views of the United States and United Kingdom on the country's energy security.

The two countries have agreed to provide input into a review led by Australia's chief scientist Alan Finkel following the South Australian blackout in October.

Environment and Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg said the co-operation would help ensure Australia had the most up-to-date international insights into energy security issues.
