Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt will be in town for the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The world's fasted man will be trackside at Flemington for Oaks Day on November 3, according to the Herald Sun.

Bolt says it will be the first time he will be attending an event like this, and will spend around two weeks in the country.

He will also meet up with former Australian runner and friend John Steffensen.

Bolt will be using the trip as a bit of a holiday, and won't be doing much training.

"We tend to relax, play some football or go karting, have a few nights out," he told News Corp.

"I will do a little bit of training but my serious training starts when I get back to Jamaica."

Earlier this year at the Rio Olympics, Bolt became a three-time 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay champion at consecutive Olympics.
