Valencia threw away the lead three times in a 3-3 draw with fellow relegation strugglers Osasuna on Monday in Spain's La Liga.

The point keeps them out of the bottom three but conceding in the 92nd minute left them feeling as if they had lost the game.

Goalkeeper Diego Alves said: "I think we played very well and it's a great shame to not get the victory; we had the three points in our grasp. We have had a difficult time of late but hopefully this year we can turn things around."

It has been a tumultuous start to the year for Valencia with both coach Cesare Prandelli and sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch leaving the club.

But they made the perfect start when Munir El Haddadi converted Guilherme Siqueira's cross in the second minute.

Osasuna equalised just four minutes later when Oriol Riera scored after he was gifted possession in the area by Mario Suarez.

But Riera then put through his own net to make it 2-1 to the visitors on 45 minutes.

The home side got back on level terms in the 61st minute when Roberto Torres scored, but Munir set up former Barcelona player Martin Montoya and the fullback got what looked like the winner with 17 minutes left.

But Dani Parejo missed the chance to put the result beyond doubt from the penalty spot, and in injury time Carlos Clerc pounced to score the equaliser for Osasuna.

"It feels like a victory," Clerc said. "We feel that if we play like this then we can get out of trouble."
