Victoria's newest MP will spend his first full day in Parliament after finally being sworn in.

The Nationals member for Northern Victoria Luke O'Sullivan was sworn in on Wednesday.

He was meant to enter state parliament in July but Labor has refused to hold the joint sitting required to allow him to take his seat in retaliation for key Labor MP Gavin Jennings being suspended from the state's upper house for six months for refusing to hand over documents to parliament.

Mr O'Sullivan said he was "glad I can now get on with my new job".
