WA group seeks distance from Hanson bid

West Australian supporters of One Nation have distanced themselves from a move by Pauline Hanson to register a party ahead of the state election in 2017.

Senator Hanson is seeking registration of "Pauline Hanson's One Nation" despite the existence of an incorporated body called One Nation WA, which does not have official party registration.

Senator Hanson has flagged possible federal police action against One Nation WA, but as yet she has not lodged any complaint.

One Nation WA secretary Brian McRea said the organisation currently applying for registration in WA was in no way associated with One Nation WA.

"Members and former members have made numerous inquiries to our executive to clarify this confusion," he told AAP on Monday.

He said while the two organisations had similar concerns and wanted similar policy outcomes, One Nation WA - which has previously been registered at a federal and state level - had been incorporated under its name for over a decade.

"This status is in place to secure the finances and personal information of members from unauthorised access as well as forming a formal legal foundation," he said.
