A man has gone on a rampage with a forklift in WA's Pilbara, flipping a tourist bus and ute and smashing a solar panel station.

Police say the 34-year-old got into a fight with a co-worker on Thevenard Island about 3am on Saturday before using the forklift to smash the solar panels - the only source of power on the island - then flipping the vehicles on their rooves.

The estimated damage bill is more than $150,000 and the man has been charged with criminal damage to appear in Karratha Magistrates Court on December 21.
