A woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to repeatedly run down two police officers in Adelaide, as they struggled to arrest a man over a hotel robbery.

The woman, 25, was arrested early on Wednesday after police battled to arrest a 23-year-old man she was with over a robbery of a hotel in suburban Smithfield in Monday.

As police took the man into custody, they say the woman jumped into the driver's seat of the car they were in and then tried to run them over several times.

The woman has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, while the pair will also face aggravated robbery and firearms charges when they appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
