A woman has died and a man has been taken to hospital after a single-vehicle crash in the New England region of NSW.

The 76-year-old passenger was killed after the car veered off the road and flipped at Deepwater near Glenn Innes about 5am on Friday.

The driver, a 36-year-old man, was treated by paramedics before being taken to the local hospital.

Meanwhile, a motorbike rider was left fighting for his life after colliding with a car in Sydney on Thursday night.

The male driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the smash and underwent mandatory testing.

The motorcyclist's health has improved but he remains at St Vincent's Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
