Police are still seeking a woman in connection with the shooting death of a 41-year-old man on the Gold Coast after a teenager handed himself in and was charged with murder.

Officers launched a search for an 18-year-old Nerang man and 31-year-old woman following the fatal shooting of Jason Boyd at his Carrara home on Friday morning.

The alleged bikie associate presented at Southport Police Station late on Friday afternoon, with his lawyer Michael Gatenby telling Nine News as they arrived that he didn't mean to shoot Mr Boyd.

"Look, he's absolutely devastated, these two were good friends. The account we've initially been provided with is it's just a tragic accident," Mr Gatenby said.

The 18-year-old has been charged with one count of murder and will front Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday.

The 31-year-old woman believed to have been travelling with the teen and also wanted in relation to the shooting remains at large.

Police released a mugshot of the woman as well as a picture of a white Holden sedan she may be travelling in, and advised the public not to approach her but to call triple zero.
