The wait is over for more than 77,000 Year 12 NSW students who will receive an early-morning text message relaying their HSC results.

The results will be delivered via email and text message from 6am on Thursday, from the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards.

Students with questions about their results will be able to call the HSC Inquiry Centre from 9am on Thursday on 1300 138 323.

Students will also be able to download their results from December 21, while HSC graduation certificates are expected to arrive by post from January 20.

On Wednesday, Education Minister Adrian Piccoli presented 129 certificates to 124 students from 74 NSW schools at a First in Course Awards ceremony.

"I wish all our 2016 HSC students every success in building on your outstanding achievements and urge you to make the most of your hard work, whether you choose to go to university, vocational education or into the workforce," Assistant Minister for Education Leslie Williams said at the ceremony.
