Ex-FBI boss once hid in curtains to avoid Trump

James Comey, who was fired by President Trump last week from his job as FBI director, once tried to hide in the curtains in the White House in order to avoid interacting with Trump. Comey's friend Benjamin Wittes told the New York Times that Comey attended a ceremony for law enforcement leaders in January at the White House because he felt that he couldn't turn down the invitation. While there, Wittes said, Comey noticed that the curtains in the room were blue, the same color as his suit, and "he stood in the back, right in front of the drapes, hoping Trump wouldn’t notice him camouflaged against the wall." Nevertheless, the President saw him and called him forward to shake his hand.
