Union Bank of the Philippines is providing drivers of Transport network company Grab Philippines with access to digital banking.

“We believe introducing this to drivers will later on lead them to a more formal banking sector. It also allows them more liquidity, kasi mas mabilis ang transfer ng funds and they can access those funds right away,” Grab Philippines country head Brian Cu.

Grab and Union Bank sealed a partnership deal Wednesday on digital banking opportunity for the company’s partner-rivers.

With deal in place, Grab’s partner-drivers will receive financial incentives through their EON ATM cash cards.

EON Banking Group head Paolo Baltao noted that Grab’s drivers can use their EON cards to withdraw cash or pay for purchases at stores where Visa cards are accepted.

Union Bank aims to bring financial services to unbanked and underserved Filipinos, Union Bank president Edwin Bautista said.

“So we will continue to revolutionize our products and services and remain open to powerful partners like Grab that will lead us to this objective,” Bautista added. —VDS, GMA News
