Three suspected drug suppliers, among them an alleged major source for illegal drugs in northern Luzon, were killed Sunday morning in a gunfight with Quezon City police officers in the city's Barangay Pag-asa,  GMA 7 news program "24 Oras Weekend" reported.

Law enforcement officers from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) were attempting to serve a search warrant on suspect Johnny De Leon when the suspects opened fire.

De Leon and the two other suspects were killed in the ensuing gunfight.

PO1 Bennette Stephen Lladoc was also shot squarely in the chest, but his bulletproof vest saved his life.

"'Yung pagpasok namin, ako 'yung nag-front. Biglang namutok 'yung suspect. Tumumba ako. Tapos buti nalang andun 'yung mga kasama ko, nakaresponde agad para makabawi ng putok," recounted Lladoc.

De Leon is said to be a major supplier of illegal drugs in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya.

Meanwhile, police recovered six sachets of shabu, identification cards and other documents, as well a bank book which said that De Leon had millions of pesos in an account. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA News
